CAFU   equipment  1944–96

Hi.  Would anyone from CAFU Tels please email me with information on the attached images; people, offices, sections, equipment and when in use.
Both Cpt. Scott Anderson and Ian Miles from Tels. have provided quite a number of these photos.
Please Email me.   Hopefully all these images can be put on a DVD.
Thanks,  Jim Fuller. j3rivers@gmail.com

Pic No 15 is the new Flight Inspection console (c1987) in its wooden mock-up rather than the aircraft.  Ken Chappell and I went on the Bendix training course in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the new navigation receivers used after this was installed in the HS748’s.  We went on the course in 1989 and I anticipate in true fashion, this was after the installation!  Bob Flanagan and I also went to Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1990 for another equipment course which was also part of the new fit.

Photo 18 is the Tels avionics equipment room before the desks were removed and steel 19” racks were installed down each side of the room.  I think it would be just prior to 1984 as I don’t recall using those benches (and I started August 1984).  I suspect the pic may have been taken as part of a ‘before and after’ shot.  It is the ground floor of Stansted House on the opposite side of the corridor to the admin offices and before the equipment room was relocated into the hangar.  At the far end (right of centre) with the white wooden frame is a Faraday cage which as used to test the ADF receivers and transmitters to stop spurious interference getting in or out.  The larger foreground grey equipment looks like a Marconi signal generator, whilst the smaller one on the bench looks like an audio power meter.
